| Bio: | Zâira was born 24 years ago in the upstairs room of a tavern in Dol Amroth. Her mother died giving birth to her, and thus her father came to name her "longing" in Adunaic. Both her mother and her father were of Umbarean descent, her grandmother being a princess of a now-exiled Umbar Royal Family (the throne likes to change hands). The royal bloodlines are really only noticeable in her looks. She hardly ever mentions it, unless as a joke. She much prefers to make her own way instead of leaning on some long-lost claim to nobility. Zâira has spent most of the years from 1 to 24 aboard a ship. By the time she was 10 she'd already killed someone, could swing a sword with confidence if not skill, steer the ship, and was learning to run her father's business. An unfortunate incident with a dice game and nearly gambling away her virginity led her father to kick her off the ship for a time. The 2 years in Dol Amroth she spent working in a tavern is the longest period of time she's ever been on land. It was also when she grew to know and love the members of the ruling family. She grew to be quite competent in the naval arts and the arts of trade. She's pretty good with languages, knows all the ports of call from Mithlond to the far south, and has sailed beyond either. Most of the things that happened between the age of 18 when she took over her father's trade fleet to the present are filled with mystery. A mystery she's never been willing to share with much of anyone, though a few have dug bits out of her over a glass of good alcohol. Zâira is a woman of many faults and vices. The life of a ship's captain is lonely, and she's gotten used to the lack of emotion and ruthlesness that comes with the job description. She's daring, bold, disrespectful, stubborn as hell, and woe betide the person who pisses her off. She's got a noble side, that few rarely see, and a soft spot that's even rarer.
